Sizes disc springs
DIN 2093 is the standard for the dimensions and quality requirements of this type of spring. It contains three series of dimensions that differ in terms of the outer diameter/thickness and clear height/thickness ratios. Many companies also produce certain other spring sizes according to the factory standard or manufacture special sizes on request and as required.

Belleville washers are also known as Belleville spring washers or conical spring washers. They are able to absorb relatively large forces in a very small installation space. This is made possible by their ring or disk-shaped geometry. It is also possible to achieve flexible spring characteristics with them in a very simple way (linear as well as degressive and progressive characteristics are possible). Provided they are correctly dimensioned, they have a long service life under dynamic load. In addition, if these elements are arranged appropriately, they are able to achieve a high level of damping and storage can also be simplified thanks to the universal combinability of the individual spring sizes. A disk spring column can be created by layering, which multiplies both force and spring travel.
Disc spring material
These springs are generally made of steel. However, depending on the intended use and subsequent degree of stress, it is advisable to adapt the material to the conditions. For special stresses, for example in the form of very high temperatures or increased corrosion loads, special materials with the appropriate properties should be used. Either special types of steel with the required properties or various forms of alloys are suitable here.
Disc spring applications
Ultimately, the purpose of any spring is to store potential energy. Their range of applications is correspondingly broad. Disc springs can also be used in many areas, but are primarily used in the automotive and electrical industries as well as in plant and mechanical engineering. In car construction, they are installed in engines, clutches, dampers and brakes. They are also used in ball bearings, screw connections and high-voltage switches.
