Serrated lock washers – DIN 6798
The name serrated lock washer DIN 6798 refers to a type of threadlocker with a folded surface. It is designed to prevent nuts screwed onto bolts from loosening over time due to vibration, corrosion or other external influences. When tightening the nut, the protruding points cling to the material and the screw head. In this way, the lock washer prevents automatic loosening.
Area of application of the serrated lock washer
Initially used specifically by mechanical engineers, the serrated lock washer is now used more in electronics construction. It is used in this area for screw connections as an anti-rotation lock. Due to its many contact points, it creates better contact between the screw and the substrate. It therefore provides the best possible earthing.
